Gates Vascular Institute (GVI) - Buffalo Donald Fox: On Oct 11, 2024 my Father went in for an outpatient heart procedure having a watchman implanted by Dr Chee Kim. The device dislodged during his recovery period, caused a cardiac arrest, and subsequently he lost enough oxygen that it damaged his brain and he remained unresponsive for a week. No one advised me of his cardiac arrest until after the emergency surgery. Dr. Mohammad Ashraff did the emergency surgery and conveyed that night that my father was recovering peacefully and that his vitals were good. The charge nurses told me the same. Next morning 10/12 I get a call from a CT tech who informed me Dad was having seizure symptoms and that he was actually on a ventilator and not breathing on his own. Thought the week I had doctors and nurses assuring me that when the temporary pacemaker could be removed an MRI could further tell what was wrong. All the while come to find out his blood was too thin to remove the device and he developed CDIF too. A nurse named Eric chewed me out for using the term life support and I got more information about his condition from a mid level named Alison than I from either Kim or Ashraff. Ive had better communication come from drug dealers and Crack addicts. Their neurological team was pathetic and couldnt relay updates when they said they would. No one can tell me why there was a 3 hour gap between the time they discovered the device dislodged, and when they actually got him in for emergency surgery. My father was suppose to have come home, not wound up a corpse. A week and a half went by and no one had even done a device review. Today marks one month since his death and I still have no answers. I stood outside of Gates Vascular hold signs and sharing this horror story with random passerbys. All the while getting smurky smug looks by anyone who gave off the vibe they worked there. So horrifying that their staff thought my display was a joke. May the Lord have mercy on them all because as far as Im concerned they can be sent to the pits of Hell. I have regular night terrors about what happened to my Father there.
Buffalo Medical Care - Genesee Office - Buffalo Shahinur rashid: Dr. Momin Ullah is seriously the best doctor I’ve ever had! I can’t say enough good things about him. When I was in Buffalo and had that scary heart problem, he was there for me 100%.
First off, he’s super smart but doesn’t talk down to you like some docs do. He explains everything in a way that makes sense, which is awesome when your freaking out about your health. And he’s got this way of making you feel comfortable, even when your nervous as heck.
I remember one time I went in feeling really anxious, and Dr. Ullah just had this calming presence. He took his time, listened to all my worries, and didn’t rush me out the door like some other doctors I’ve seen.Even now, when I am out of state for travel, he is there for me. All I had to do is left him a message.
The thing that really stands out is how much he seems to genuinely care. It’s not just about treating symptoms, you know? He wants to make sure your doing okay overall. And he remembers stuff about you, which is pretty cool.
His office is pretty convienent too. I never had to wait forever to get an appointment, which is a huge plus when your not feeling great.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, if your in Buffalo and need a doctor, Dr. Ullah is your guy. He’s the kind of doctor who makes you feel like your in good hands. I’m so gratefull I found him when I did. Seriously, can’t recomend him enough!
St. Vincent Health Center - Buffalo Jennifer Rashko: I love dr Jung. She is the best I had seen dr molloy also he is good too. They both listen and make sure I get the best care. .
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center - Buffalo Allen Smith: I have always been well taken care of during my recovery from kidney cancer. I travel from S GA for my treatments at Roswell Park CCC. I travel so far because I have confidence in the Drs and staff and trust them to take care of my needs. I have recommended this facility to others here in the Southland and anywhere a person may be.
St. Joseph Campus - Cheektowaga Lisa K: Earlier this week I had my 3rd joint replacement at St Joes Hospital on Harlem Road. Each experience was very good considering that I was having surgery. Everyone, yes every single staff member was kind and considerate. At this point, you are lucky to get someone nice to buy coffee from anymore, so its a wonderful surprise to find that kind of treatment. They have been attentive, courteous and took all the time I needed to answer any question.
Ive had surgery at too many of our local hospitals so I feel like I have enough experience to compare. I was concerned at first because I have heard the St Joes horror stories but to be fair, all the hospitals have their share of those. What was abundantly clear to me each time Ive been there was that St Joes is working hard to be an exceptional place for surgical care.
I have chronic health issues and, unfortunately, medical treatment is a necessary evil for me. One thing at my age, (60), that I insist on for myself, is to be treated kindly. I try to be nice and respectful to all of them and I want the same. If you are going to hurt me at least be nice about it! Not only are they nice, there were some notable acts of kindness showed to me that were above and beyond. They were actions that were clearly not taught, but were the nature of a nurse that was doing the job she was meant to have. If you have ever been the recipient of one of these acts of kindness, you know how much they mean. Whether its the maintenance crew that is friendly, brightening your day, the anesthesiologist that uses humor to lighten the situation, putting you more at ease. Or the aide that not only covers you with a warm blanket when you are cold, but takes the time to tuck it in around you, these acts of kindness matter. They take an unpleasant, painful, and sometimes scary situation and make it so much better. Its isolating going in for surgery but St Joes makes me feel like Im not there alone. I hope the entire staff knows that I appreciated you all. If I thanked everyone this review would be 10 pages! I wish i knew all your names and could mention everyone. To the administrators, you have some exceptional staff, take care of them. I will just end with a special thank you to Tami, the nurse that gently reached out and took my hand during a painful procedure. It was unexpected and very comforting. In that moment I felt better and knew I was in good hands. Thank you all so much!
Western New York Immediate Care - Orchard Park - Orchard Park Mart Jay: 12-18-24. Highly recommend! Thumb laceration, 7 o’clock hour. Called ahead to make sure they could stitch or glue. Walked in, check in was quick. I was taken back within 5 minutes. Treated with in 10 minutes. First nurse that saw me was kinds and respectful, did vitals told me next steps. Doctor came in he was awesome. We chatted as he treated. It was like we were old buddies. Nurse that came in to give a shot was also very kind and respectful. Out the door! Great experience. 5 plus stars!
Buffalo General Medical Center Emergency Room - Buffalo Tashnemara Upama: What a joke this hospital is. Horrible experience. I’ve been waiting in the emergency with my dad since 5 o’clock. So 8 hours. When i asked staff nicely, they reply saying someone is waiting for 13 hours proudly. What a joke? How is this even a emergency room? Never had an experience like this! Unacceptable. People will die out here just waiting to be seen by the doctor.
Update: we waited 10 hours and ended up leaving without seeing doctor.
Ambulatory Surgery Center of Western New York - Buffalo Phillip Toney: Absolutely terrible! 4 days before my daughters surgery, they cancel the surgery. We have been jumping through hoops for over a year with the ENT doctor to have this surgery and now we are told they cannot do it because of the patients body mass index. Catholic health is the new owners of ambulatory surgery have created new guidelines. Catholic health is the reason my daughter cannot have this surgery.
