1 /5 Rich LeMond: If you go to the The Heart Center ask first what billing codes they are going to use when billing your insurance provider!!! They bill this Center under hospital procedures when it is a lab. The reason being they are paid more under hospital codes and unfortunately most patient insurances only cover a portion of hospital expenses i.e. 80/20; therefore, you will have far more out of pocket expenses than planned. In my case, I had an EKG, Ecco and monitor tests all took about 45 minutes, if billed properly I would have paid approx. $250 instead I was billed $2,500+ due to it being billed under hospital codes.
You have recourse!!! I have reported this to the NYS Attorney Generals Office for patient advocate healthcare. I have photos of the room the tests were conducted in along with billing codes. NYS AG will investigate this poor billing practice.
