5 /5 Wayne Apsley: My wife and I have been to Saratoga several times and never went to an actual spring. We looked up spring close to 87 and found Orenda Spring. We paid the $10 park fee and followed directions to the spring. Orenda is fresh water feed, and about 20 yards across the street was the Polaris spring. Polaris is a mineral spring that has a distinctive taste. You can drink from both locations. We thanked Mother Earth on our visit.

5 /5 Jim Cullen: Orenda Spring is located in the woods just to the right of the SPAC ticket entrance. Pull into the SPAC parking lot on RT 50 and head to the treeline. There is an unmarked footpath leading back fifty feet or so to the spring, which is just a stone hut with a wooden roof and a spout where the mineral water gushes out into a drain. The drain, through a pipe, empties into the ravine above Geyser Creek. If you go to the fence and peek over, you can see the Orenda tufa deposits on the edge of the creek. Orenda Spring water is powerful stuff and many are turned away by the equally powerful smell. Fortunately, the flavor of the water is not the same as the smell. The water is cold, high in minerals, and very carbonated. Besides Hathorn #3, this spring water is about as strong as they come so, if you can handle Orenda, you can handle any mineral spring water Saratoga has to offer! Beware if youre watching your salt intake as this spring is also high in chlorides. If you enjoy the stronger mineral springs, then you will love Orenda!

Ballston Creek Preserve - Ballston Lake

Adam G.: This trail is well maintained by Saratoga Plan. It is very peaceful and the walk isn’t too long. You should park your vehicle across the road and walk down the main highway to the entrance. It can be dangerous to get to this way but we couldn’t find another entrance. The trail cuts through an open field and then shortly to the marsh. Hopefully next time we will see some herons!

Peebles Island State Park - Cohoes

Batman The Dark Knight: Looking around the area for something to do, I came upon this island. Saw a picture of a waterfall and had to check it out. It was a very nice day out and a lovely 2 mile walk all the way around. The man made waterfalls were small but nice. There was a huge bald eagles nest with 2 eagles in it. No bikes or skateboards. Pretty good amount of parking. Would recommend.

miSci | Museum of Innovation & Science - Schenectady

Angie Franklin: This is a very informative museum. The AI exhibit is very interesting. Lots to learn and look at. They have plenty of hands on exhibits. The kids really enjoy this place. The comic book area in the front is also quite educational. Loved the old movie cameras as you walk in. The place was clean and well taken care of.

New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center - Saratoga Springs

Matthew Cerasia: This museum is perfect for history buffs and fans of seeing military guns/ equipment and uniforms. The museum is very well organized. They have different sections with each being a different time period and war that was being fought. The WW1 section was probably my favorite. It had an area where they made it look like you were in a trench. The information given was great and you’ll definitely leave learning something new.

The Plotter Kill Preserve - Rotterdam

David Hassoun: I think I followed the wrong trail, but thats because Im an idiot. I blame being color blind and not knowing which color trail to follow. I was looking for a place to spend the night because Im out of shape didnt think I could make it back up the hills. Kidding, but I did send a message to my wife telling her where I was in case I didnt come home. Beautiful trail, well kept and well marked. Peaceful. I loved it and plan to go back.

Adam Rollins: This is a multi-use park with 3 pavilions, a gazebo, a playground with 6 playsets of varying sizes, a splash park for summer use, tennis courts, and fields for baseball and soccer. I bring my little ones here on occasion when Im in the area where they can burn some energy and have a lot of fun while doing so.

The Warming Hut - Saratoga Springs

edward lender: One of the nicest places in the Saratoga Springs State Park. You can go in and get warm by the fire. It has heated restrooms and tables to eat on and also a grill outside to cook on in the summer also. Alot of parking for cars and trucks also. All the staff and police are very helpful and can tell you about other things to do in the park. A must see daily from sun up to sun down except they are closed on Sunday.
