1 /5 Monique Leann Carter: Had a baby at this hospital. Nurses and hospital staff were extremely rude, borderline verbally abusive. As a new mother, they were judgy and talked down to me. One nurse goes “ stop eating, life isn’t about you anymore”. My daughter had just fell asleep, this disgusting nurse barged in and assumed I was neglecting my daughter because of the fact that I needed to shovel food in my mouth b4 she woke back up and being in labor all night. And, breastfeeding. I was hungry!!! And, during the birth, my sister is by my side. Holding my hand. As my baby was crowning, my sister gets happily emotional and says “meekie, (my nickname) she’s coming!!” The presiding nurse rudely goes “you need to calm down already, she (me) obviously knows”. As if they couldn’t get more inappropriate and unprofessional, 5 hours after having my baby they preceded to tell me to…..take a shower??? Like I had no business bringing life into this world. It left me feeling like total scum. I have kept this to myself for several years. The reason why I am just now sharing this is because I am in the process of obtaining my daughter’s birth certificate and needed to get the address in which she was born. Whoever the hospital staff were who treated me like human garbage during a time that should’ve been the happiest days of my life, if there was a Time Machine and I can go back, I would have NEVER allowed you to treat me like that!! Batavia NY pediatric and birth center, I hope someone treats you with the same level of disrespect. If you haven’t gotten your act together yet, than hopefully you all will sooner than later. Especially being in the helping profession. What an absolute disgrace.
