04-2025 Albany Med Malta in Best 18 MEDICAL SERVICES near Albany, NY (Part 2)Albany Medical Center Emergency Room - Albany Kurt Seitz: A horrific experience a few months ago. Waited nearly 24 hours to be seen before walking out and driving to Westchester Med, where we were seen right away. At least they had someone check in the waiting room occasionally to see if anyone had passed away while waiting. We will never go back.
Albany Med General Pediatrics Group - Albany Katherine DeMaria: Albany Med is the second largest training hospital in the country. It should be known that you are putting your life in the hands of cocky Residents and interns who are not properly supervised .
Capital Cardiology Associates - Albany Kathleen Ehlinger: Dr. Scott Purga is a class act. Very informative with excellent bed side manner. He is patient, kind and caring. He puts you at ease and is a great listener. I felt heard! Bottom line, I am grateful to have him as my doctor.
Kathleen
Albany Med Department of Neurosurgery: Matthew Adamo, MD - Albany Jamie Bivens: My daughter was born with a tethered spinal cord and Dr. Adamo did her surgery may 2021. He did an amazing job and shes doing healijg and doing great now. Were still being followed by the spina bifida clinic which is a great resource to have andthe nurse was great in the office each time weve gone. Highly reccomend. And if you cant see Dr. Adamo then id try to aee his PA Lisa newman shes great too.
CapitalCare Family Practice Great Oaks - Albany Michael Rogers: I would give zero stars if I could. I was a patient of the Dr here for 20 years, but I cannot recommend this practice to anyone. They have replaced their office management and staff with incompetents, the nursing staff is no better. The office manager decided to treat me like a criminal and make accusations instead of verifying my insurance. I was asked to leave and she told the providers that I threw a pen at the receptionist, who I wasnt even talking to. She got me discharged from the practice, which she was quite proud to tell me. They also lost all my immunization records which I very much needed.... atrocious way to run a medical practice. Disgusting
Albany Med ENT - Albany J. Es: Worst experience ever! DO NOT GO HERE!!! 1st off, I am a very easy going person. I try not to let much bother me. This place was the worst, from the reception desk, to the Doctor and then the follow up. I will skip the reception issue and jump right to Doctor. As soon as he came in, he asked me to sit up and then handed me a tissue. I asked what the tissue was for, he said so if this nasty stuff gets on your face you can wipe it off. Never even told me hed be spraying anything or what it was for. He spray my nostrils and says hell be back. Comes back and says sit up..take a long skinny 2 foot tube and sticks in in my nose down my throat. Never let me know what he was going to do! It hurt. I asked if the spray was to numb it.. he says to open your sinuses. Very loud spoken and almost rude. Tells me I definitely have a mass in my neck and need a scan. Doesnt really know what it is. I go to reception desk to set up appointment for scan. They say we have to call you once we submit to your insurance. 5 days later, I hear nothing. I call to find out the person who handles is on vacation for another week. So here I am, a mass in my neck that could serious..and I am just waiting to hear back from someone. I ask to file a complaint, they say the manager will call me back. I ask who is head of this practice, she says she doesnt know. Several hours pass and I still have not heard back. The sad part is I pay for insurance. If I had Medicaid and was on welfare I would be taken care of by now. Stay away!!!!!
Adelson Robert T MD - Albany Lorraine Rice: Dr. Adelson is fantastic. Not only is he an expert in his field he has an awesome bedside manner taking time with his patients to make them feel comfortable while understanding all technical aspects of their particular situation. While you may need to be patient in wait time to see him he is well worth the wait!
New York State Veterinary Medical Society - Albany D Taras: The last place I want to be is in an emergency animal hospital . It’s scary when your fur baby requires immediate attention especially on a Sunday morning . However the staff makes you feel welcome & offers the fastest care they can . We were seen within 30 minutes & the veterinary doctor assured us he had a soft tissue injury & didn’t think he needed any X-rays . He prescribed pain medication & instructions for 10 days & could follow up with our own vet if anything came up, I feel they were compassionate , understanding, and took great care of our fur patient. The hospital waiting room is very clean & large with plenty of seats . It even had a coffee bar and vending machine . I highly recommend this animal hospital. This is my girl waiting patiently for her brother .
New York State Department of Health - Albany Sheila Carpenter: As a social worker advocating for a young man needing services from OPWDD I have had incredible assistance from Linda Herron, RN. This lady has been absolutely outstanding. In an attempt to advocate for this young man, 30 years of age with a dx of ADHD and autism, there are different challenges due to this . Understanding that she does not create the process, but she does have to make it work. They are incredibly lucky to have her on staff… And so are we. We all know that the school system fell short when they did not do an appropriate referral for Ethan upon graduation . So we are already behind the eight ball..
Her communication is consistent, Her explanation of needed documents that are unusual to this case is concise, her review of documents is timely.
With all that, she is always polite and courteous, always available, always Returns calls, is pleasant and easy to deal with… Even when there are legitimate gripes like my computer system not working on my end and printing not coming out properly on her end because how my Apple system talks poorly to her computer system…. Never ever does she express a moment of agitation or aggravation.
As a social work supervisor retired from New York State office of people with developmental disabilities after 33 years, this is the lady that everyone wants on their team. The New York State Department of Health is very lucky to have her… and so are we, the public. Many thanks, Linda. You do both the Department of Health as well as all Nurses, very proud.!
